Malone Announces Campaign for Congress

Joe Malone, former State Treasurer and former Fox 25 commentator, today announced his candidacy for Congress in the 10th district of Massachusetts.

In an event at Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth, Malone was introduced to an overflow crowd by Mike Sullivan.  From the 10th district town of Abington, Sullivan has served Massachusetts as a state representative and district attorney.  His most recent public service was as United States Attorney and acting head of the ATF.

Sullivan cited some Malone’s many successes as Treasurer as the reason for his support.  These included reducing the Treasury’s budget by 62%, making the state’s Lottery the most efficient in the country and raising the performance of the state’s pension fund from among the country’s worst to among its best.

In his speech, Malone called for change saying “We need new people in Washington, leaders who care more about the next generation than the next election.”  Malone vowed to campaign from Quincy to the tip of Cape Cod and throughout the Islands.  “We’ll reach out to Republicans, Democrats, Independents and members of the Tea Party.”

To a cheering crowd, Malone said, “Let’s reinvigorate the American Dream and keep it alive for all Americans and for generations to come.”
